Texas Fishing License Information for Flat Water Charters
Before you head out on your fishing adventure with Flat Water Charters on beautiful Lake Texoma, it’s important to make sure your fishing license is in order. Whether you're a Texas resident, an Oklahoma visitor, or someone crossing state lines just to experience the area's incredible Striped Bass and Catfish fishing, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know about licensing requirements.
Do You Need a Fishing License on Lake Texoma?
Yes. Anyone age 17 and older is required to have a valid fishing license to fish on Lake Texoma. Since the lake straddles the Texas-Oklahoma border, you have a couple of options:
- Texas Fishing License – Valid if fishing on the Texas side only.
- Oklahoma Fishing License – Valid if fishing on the Oklahoma side only.
- Lake Texoma Fishing License – Best option, valid for the entire lake, regardless of which side you're fishing.
If you’re fishing with Guide Robert Hodges, it’s recommended to purchase the Lake Texoma License, so there are no limits on where you can cast your line during your guided trip.
How to Get a Lake Texoma Fishing License
Getting a license is easy and can be done a few different ways:
- Online through Texas Parks & Wildlife: Visit tpwd.texas.gov and search for “Lake Texoma Fishing License.”
- Retail Locations: Most Walmart stores, tackle shops, and outdoor retailers in Texas and Oklahoma sell licenses.
- By Phone: Call Texas Parks & Wildlife at 1-800-895-4248 to purchase by credit card.
The Lake Texoma License (Type 208) is $12 and is good for the calendar year (expiring Dec. 31 annually). You do not need a regular state license if you have this specific permit.
What to Bring
Be sure to bring your printed license or a digital copy on your mobile device to show proof of purchase. Guide Robert Hodges will confirm that each guest 17 and older has a valid license before launching your trip.
Children under 17 do not need a fishing license in either state. If you're unsure about licensing, feel free to reach out to Flat Water Charters ahead of your trip—Robert is happy to help make sure you're properly covered.
